Volunteer to serve ALAO and the profession

ALAO depends on members' contributions to provide a variety of professional development opportunities, to support the profession by conferring scholarships, grants, and awards, and to advocate on behalf of academic libraries. Volunteers serve in many capacities, including as elected officers, committee members, or appointed board members, along with the opportunities listed here. We welcome your participation.

Complete the volunteer form to indicate your interest in leadership positions and committee or Interest Group (IG) participation. The Board consults the data collected from this form during the spring and summer when elections and committee and IG appointments take place.

Additional opportunities include:

• Contribute to the ALAO newsletter. Share your best practices with colleagues statewide. Contact the Communications Editor with questions.
• Submit proposals for annual conference or IG workshops. Calls for proposals are shared via the ALAO listserv and social media.
• Participate in the Mentoring program
• Apply for a grant or scholarship
