Data Interest Group (DIG)

Purpose

The purpose of the interest group is to provide a statewide forum for library staff interested in a collaborative environment for strengthening knowledge and professional development around data services.

Data services encompasses information and services associated with the curation and access of data, datasets, data management and data visualization. Included with data services is the promotion and awareness of data literacy.  The scope of data services is interdisciplinary and therefore includes various subjects including STEM, the social sciences and humanities.

Goals

  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing for data services in academic libraries 
  • Promote data literacy and awareness
  • Support professional development in data services
  • Encourage interdisciplinary engagement

Membership

Any member of ALAO who is interested in data and data service topics. Please email the chairs at dig@alaoweb.org to be included on group news and activities.
